Navigating Marginalized Community Members

to Sustainable Resources

Our Purpose

At The Healing Project, we know that access to housing, food, transportation, education, and mental health support is critical for marginalized communities. When these basic needs are met, people have a real chance to stabilize, move forward, and access resources without barriers.

Through this work, we support individuals and families across Travis County and surrounding areas as they move toward sustainability, independence, and long-term stability. Our goal is simple: to help people heal, build self-sufficiency, and step into their power as leaders in their communities across Central Texas.

What We Do

Check out our programs and events, from community engagement to personalized help.

Healing Closet

The Healing Closet is The Healing Project's free, appointment-based resource program designed to help individuals and families access essential items with dignity and choice. Through the Healing Closet, community members can receive food, hygiene products, baby items, household essentials, and other basic needs resources. The program aims to reduce barriers, alleviate financial strain, and connect households to additional community resources and support services.

SENIOR HOME FOOD DELIVERY ENROLLMENT

The Senior Home Food Delivery Enrollment Program helps eligible older adults connect with monthly home-delivered groceries through a partnership with Central Texas Food Bank. The Healing Project assists seniors with enrollment, eligibility screening, and application support to ensure they can access nutritious food without leaving their homes. This program is designed for eligible seniors who may face transportation, mobility, health, or other barriers that make accessing traditional food resources difficult.

Healing on Wheels

Healing on Wheels brings essential resources directly to community members. Healing on Wheels ensures that families with the greatest barriers still receive consistent, dependable support and care from The Healing Project.

HOUSING STABILIZATION PROGRAM

The Housing Stabilization Program supports individuals and families experiencing housing instability, homelessness, or barriers to maintaining safe and stable housing. Through resource navigation, community partnerships, and supportive services, participants are connected to housing opportunities, rented rooms, household essentials, transportation assistance, workforce resources, and other tools needed to achieve long-term stability.

Through this program, The Healing Project works with community partners and housing providers to help identify affordable room rental opportunities and shared housing options when available. Participants may also receive assistance accessing supportive services that help them maintain housing and work toward long-term self-sufficiency.

The program prioritizes a person-centered approach that promotes stability, dignity, self-sufficiency, and overall well-being.

Healing in the Neighborhood

Our Generational Health program promotes healing in the Neighborhood by supporting whole-family wellness—mind, body, and spirit. We offer movement-based activities like meditation, yoga, sound baths, breathwork, and grounding practices for marginalized communities across Central Texas.

RESOURCE NAVIGATION

The Healing Project's Resource Navigation Program helps connect individuals and families to community resources and supportive services throughout Austin and Central Texas. Our team works to identify potential resources and provide referrals based on each household's unique needs.

While The Healing Project does not currently provide direct rental assistance, utility assistance, or emergency financial assistance, we may be able to connect you with organizations that do. We encourage individuals seeking these services to review our Community Resource Directory, which includes local organizations that may be able to assist with housing, rent, utilities, food, healthcare, transportation, employment, legal services, and other basic needs.

Please note that referrals do not guarantee assistance, as eligibility requirements, funding availability, and program capacity vary by organization.

Our goal is to help community members navigate available resources, reduce barriers to access, and connect with programs that support long-term stability and well-being.
